published by S. N. Mercure, Paris, on December 2, 1955:

"To be sure, Lipatti is by his very nature the «purest » pianist I have ever worked with. […] I don’t think there ever was or there ever will be another pianist like him. […] He was a musician who used the piano as a means of communication, and as an expressive means. One cannot hope to understand him unless one truly realises how high he stood as man and as musician. Lipatti was a good person in the highest sense of the word, a particularly sensitive nature, a gentle soul and an aristocratic spirit; he had, so to say, those qualities which make the saints…”
