On May 13, 1928, Lipatti performed at the Romanian Athenaeum in Bucharest, as part of a festival organised by the Principele Mircea Society under the patronage of Her Majesty Queen Mary.

Here is how the event was reflected in an anonymous review:
“Today, after three years of intense study with Professor Mihail Jora, Dinu Lipatti is a virtuoso of the keyboard. […] On Sunday we saw him both as a pianist, with a superb rendition of Schumann’s Blumenstück and Debussy’s Arabesque (and, as encore, the Petite Sérénade by Albéniz) and as a composer, with two ballet pieces (Valse d’une fée and Danse burlesque), dedicated to little pianist Madeleine Rădulescu.”

[...] At the end of the recital Dinu Lipatti offered us four of his own compositions: Hommage à Chopin, an ingenious paraphrase of a Chopin etude, Fantaisie-Caprice, showing remarkable inspiration and sentiment, Hymne à Saint Sébastien and a quite evoking Valse-tzigane. Warmly applauded by the public, he played an encore – a concert waltz.”
